You Won’t Believe Who NYT Thinks Made Bitcoin!

So apparently, the New York Times decides it’s detective work to figure out who invented Bitcoin. And guess what? They point a finger at Adam Back, the Blockstream guy. Adam’s reaction? “Me? Satoshi? Are you kidding me?”

NYT’s evidence is, of course, totally airtight. Writing style? Check. British spellings? Check. Some cryptography skills? Double check. I mean, who wouldn’t be Satoshi if they can spell “favourite” with a “u”?

Adam Back Just Wants to Chill

On X (yes, Twitter, but with a cooler name), Back basically says, “I’m not Satoshi. I’ve been messing with cryptography forever, long before Bitcoin even existed. You guys are nuts.” He’s like the guy who’s been at the party all night, and suddenly someone accuses him of stealing the dip. Come on.

He explains, patiently, like a guy stuck in a long line at the DMV: because he was so vocal on cryptography mailing lists, his name pops up a lot. And boom-confirmation bias. That’s right, science has a vendetta against him. If you post a lot about something, suddenly you’re guilty. That’s the rule.

“I talked a lot, people remember it, some smart journalist thinks it’s suspicious. Life’s tough,” Back says. And honestly, you can’t argue with logic that makes sense only to someone who’s been inside too many nerd threads.

The Satoshi Mystery: Good for Everyone

Then, he goes all philosophical on us: any overlap between his words and Satoshi’s? Pure coincidence. Or maybe everyone who’s smart in crypto just talks the same way. No big deal. Relax.

And the cherry on top? He doesn’t know who Satoshi is. Couldn’t tell you if you paid him. But apparently, this is great for Bitcoin because mystery sells. You know, like a digital collectible that’s mathematically scarce. Fascinating.
