Pump.fun Purchases Padre – Because Why Not?
On Friday, Pump.fun made the rather predictable announcement that they’ve snapped up Padre, the multichain trading terminal. And yes, it was for an undisclosed amount-because who needs transparency when you’re this successful? As part of their grand mission to “tokenize the world’s highest-potential opportunities,” they decided Padre was an obvious choice. After all, terminals like Padre have been “capturing most trading volumes in the ecosystem” for a year. How could they resist?
Alon Cohen, the ever-eloquent co-founder of Pump.fun, wasted no time in declaring today a “historic day” for the PUMP ecosystem. “Innovation, market growth, and retail-friendly products-that’s what we do,” he crowed on X. Because really, who doesn’t want to be the hero of the retail world?
“But of course,” Cohen continued, “we’ve always been searching for more ways to support and reward our loyal users.” (He’s referring to those brave souls who are still pro-trading terminal fans, by the way.) And with this acquisition, they’ve managed to nab the team with the “most grit, execution capability, and integrity” he’s ever encountered. Which, given crypto, is quite the glowing endorsement, don’t you think?
According to the official memo, Padre will continue operating as usual-sort of. Expect significant upgrades, especially for tokens launched on Pump.fun. Because if there’s one thing crypto people love, it’s significant upgrades-the magic words of every deal!
PUMP Breaks Out-Not From Prison, Just From Bearish Territory
As expected, the PUMP token didn’t just sit there after this announcement. No, it surged a modest 11.6%, peaking at a whole $0.0043-its highest point in a week! Clearly, the market is just thrilled by this new development. The token has been trading within the $0.0036-$0.0046 range, making those little bursts of excitement all the more precious.
Analyst Sjuul from AltCryptoGems was the first to point out that PUMP had been in a “bit of trouble” just the day before, flirting with the lower end of its range. A breakdown to lower levels was imminent-until it wasn’t. A glorious rally sent PUMP breaking out of its bearish structure, just in time for the weekend. The range high is now the new target for those ambitious traders.

Some users, in their infinite wisdom, decided to voice their outrage on X. “When you acquire a product that has been around for over a year, it would be wise to consider those who have invested in the token,” one user lamented. Fair point, right? After all, token holders were expecting at least a bit of consideration, maybe an airdrop or something. Instead, they got the crypto equivalent of a cold shower.
One particularly disgruntled commenter pointed out that simply announcing the token’s uselessness was “atrocious.” And perhaps he’s right.
