In a move that screams “I’m still relevant, folks,” Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin took to X (formerly known as Twitter, because why not add more confusion to the world?) to remind everyone that Ethereum is the Switzerland of blockchain-neutral, open, and probably full of hidden bank accounts. “Ethereum is fully permissionless!” he declared, as if we needed a permission slip to build a DeFi app that will inevitably rug-pull its users. He also mentioned something about the network being beyond his control, which is rich coming from the guy whose face is on every Ethereum-themed mug and t-shirt.
Vitalik then went full philosopher, claiming that calling certain DeFi, AI, or prediction market apps “low value” or “profit-driven” is just a matter of opinion. “It’s free speech, not censorship!” he chirped, as if anyone needed his blessing to voice their disdain for the 17th clone of a clone of a clone of Uniswap. He even compared Ethereum to Linux, because nothing says “we’re cool and open” like referencing a 30-year-old operating system that your uncle still uses to pirate movies.
So, there you have it. Ethereum is a big, inclusive party where everyone’s invited, even the people building apps that will probably crash and burn. Just don’t ask Vitalik to DJ-he’s too busy writing blog posts about how neutral he is.
Assuming there were images in the original text, they would remain in their original places here.
