So, here we go again. Seoul FinTech Lab, which is basically an incubator for fintech companies (like we need more of those), has decided to team up with XRPL Korea. Their brilliant plan? Help “promising builders” on the XRPL ecosystem. You know, because turning product ideas into real businesses on XRPL is the future, right? Sure, why not.
Now, don’t get too excited, but according to the Korea Startup Post (a real publication, apparently), this whole thing is called the “Korea Financial Innovation Program 2026” – so, you know, they’re really thinking long-term here. Ripple’s sponsoring it, of course, because they’ve got nothing better to do, and about 21 other companies are jumping in, including venture capital firms and accelerators. Because, you know, global blockchain markets are just waiting for more connections to Korea’s blockchain ecosystem. Wait, what?
2026: The Year of “Financial Innovation” (Apparently)
Here’s how this is going to go down. The program runs for three months. Applications are open from April 1 to May 6, because nothing screams “innovative” like a tight timeline. Then, 12 lucky teams will make it to the main round (May 4 to May 13), and the grand finale will be held on June 25 at Two IFC in Yeouido. But don’t worry, there’s online onboarding and briefings in April to make sure you don’t completely miss the boat. If you can’t make it, there’s always the offline briefing on April 22. Good luck with that.
Oh, and let’s not forget that during this “cutting-edge” program, teams will get support – including business consulting, blockchain mentoring, and, wait for it, networking. Yes, that’s right. A bunch of people who know nothing about your business will tell you what to do. But, hey, legal support and investment reviews are also on the table. Who needs actual experience when you have all this “support”?
The organizers also decided that Milgram, a dedicated community (we assume that’s a name, not a philosophy), will provide onboarding materials. If you’re confused about XRPL tech, they’ve got you covered. They’ll also help you expand your business and keep you informed about regulatory trends. 1:1 consulting, too. Oh, joy. Maybe they’ll actually help someone.
Up to $21K in Prizes-And No, You Won’t Be Rich
Now, for the exciting part: the prizes. The winning team will walk away with 5 million Korean Won (about $3,340). Second place gets 3 million KRW ($2,000), and third place takes home 2 million KRW ($1,330). And there’s more! Special awards of 1 million KRW ($1,330) each will be handed out by some partners, like Toss and the Korea Fintech Industry Association. Oh, and legal advisory services worth 6 million KRW ($4,000) per year for the top two teams from Bae, Kim & Lee. Sweet deal, right?
In total, the prize pool is 32 million KRW (about $21,390). But wait-there’s more. XRPL Korea is offering participants a chance to get linked up with the XRPL Grants program. It offers up to $200,000 in value. Of course, this doesn’t mean you’ll actually get it, but it’s nice to dream.
