Plume’s USDC Hack: No More Bridging! 🚀💸

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare your wallets and your sense of irony, because Plume has just announced that they’re going to add native USDC and CCTP V2. Because who doesn’t want to feel the thrill of using a stablecoin that’s as regulated as a librarian’s schedule?

A Direct Path for Stable Money

USDC, the world’s most obedient stablecoin, is now getting its own seat at the blockchain table. No more relying on those shaky bridges that could collapse at any moment, leaving your funds stranded in the middle of a blockchain swamp. Now, you can just use the real deal, straight from the vaults of… well, Circle, I guess.

The update also includes CCTP V2, a system so smooth it’ll make your grandma’s buttered toast look like a rollercoaster. Move USDC across blockchains without extra steps? Sounds like a miracle. Or maybe just a very well-funded tech demo.

Since its mainnet launch, Plume has quickly grown into a major hub for real-world asset activity. The network already has more than 182,000 asset holders and over 200 apps and protocols built on top of it. The addition of native USDC is expected to add even more activity by giving people a reliable and regulated stablecoin to use for trading and settlement. Or, as I like to call it, “the blockchain equivalent of a safety net made of glitter.”

Unlocking Real-World Asset Finance

According to Teddy Pornprinya, the Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of Plume, the integration is a turning point for the platform and the wider RWA space. “Integrating native USDC and CCTP V2 into Plume is more than a technical milestone, it’s a catalyst for the next phase of real-world asset adoption,” he said. Because nothing says “catalyst” like a stablecoin that’s as reliable as a promise from a politician.

Currently, Plume hosts bridged USDC, known as USDC.e, which comes from Ethereum via Stargate. To ensure a smooth transition, the network plans to work closely with ecosystem apps to move from bridged tokens to the new native version over time. Because nothing says “smooth transition” like a blockchain that’s basically a toddler learning to walk.
