Binance, the world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchange, has announced it will support the change of Toncoin (TON) to Gram (GRAM). If you hold TON on Binance, it will automatically be swapped to GRAM at a 1-to-1 rate. This change, which affects the token linked to the Telegram messaging app, will happen between June 23rd and July 2nd, and all trading, deposits, and withdrawals will then use the new GRAM ticker.
Trading of the original TON token will end and new GRAM trading pairs will become available in early July. The exchange will manage all the necessary technical work to make this happen.

The TON community recently decided to revert to the coin’s original name, with over 81% of users voting in favor. The change will be implemented on the network on June 15th, and exchanges will then update their trading symbols accordingly.

Goodbye Toncoin, welcome back GRAM
This project’s return to its original vision is significant. It began with Nikolai and Pavel Durov intending to create Telegram Open Network and its cryptocurrency, Gram, so revisiting those initial plans holds a lot of meaning for the entire system.
In 2020, U.S. regulators, particularly the SEC, pressured Telegram’s team to abandon the project. As a result, the network was taken over by an independent group of developers, who rebranded it as The Open Network and its cryptocurrency as Toncoin.
As an analyst, I see this vote as a significant step towards righting a past wrong and returning Telegram to the vision its original creators had for it. It’s essentially a restoration of the platform’s initial identity.
Changing the name back is turning out to be more complicated than expected for the market. Although the main platforms are getting ready for the change, each one is managing the technical side of things a little differently.
Although Binance supports the name change, validators on the Hyperliquid platform—a decentralized system—will be voting on whether to remove TON from their listings. This seems strange, considering developers working on the TON ecosystem emphasize that the change is only a visual update and doesn’t affect the underlying technology.
