Vietnam’s Blockchain: Because Even Governments Need Trust Issues 😏

Vietnam, in a move that surprised exactly no one who’s ever been to a DMV, has rolled out its very own national blockchain. Because nothing says “trust the system” like letting the Ministry of Public Security run your decentralized ledger. 🚔💻

On Friday, the government announced NDAChain—a blockchain so official, it comes with its own bureaucracy. Developed by the National Data Association (because acronyms make everything sound more important), it promises to solve all of Vietnam’s data woes. Or at least give hackers a fancier target. 🎯

NDAChain: Because “Trust Us” Wasn’t Cutting It

Nguyen Huy, the NDA’s head of technology (and presumably a man who has never lost a game of “blockchain buzzword bingo”), called the platform a “protective layer” for Vietnam’s data. Which, in government-speak, means: “We’ll know everything, but don’t worry—it’s for your own good.”

The blockchain will supposedly bring “decentralized trust” to sectors like healthcare, finance, and education. Though, as Huy admitted, it’s not actually decentralized. It’s more like a potluck where only approved guests can bring dishes. 🍲

“We’ve chosen a hybrid architecture,” Huy explained, which is just a fancy way of saying, “We want the buzz of blockchain without the pesky freedom part.”

The network will be secured by 49 validator nodes—run by state agencies and a few lucky corporations. Because nothing says “decentralization” like letting SunGroup and the Ministry of Public Security call the shots. 🤷‍♂️

Your Identity, Now With Extra Red Tape

As if tracking transactions wasn’t enough, NDAChain will also power NDA DID—a decentralized identity solution. Because who doesn’t want their personal data floating around on a government-run blockchain? 🙃

The NDAKey app promises to verify identities “in seconds,” which is either a technological miracle or just slightly faster than waiting in line at the post office. Either way, it’s progress. Maybe.
