Tomorrow, Tokyo becomes extremely important for Ripple and XRP going forward.

XRP Tokyo 2026 is a major conference focused entirely on XRP and the XRP Ledger, happening on April 7th at the beautiful 400-year-old Happo-en garden in Tokyo. It’s expected to draw over 3,000 people and feature more than 20 speakers, including Ripple’s top executives, making it the biggest event of its kind in Asia.

Why Tokyo, Why Now?

As a researcher following the crypto landscape, I can confidently say Japan isn’t a minor player. It’s actually a very mature and well-regulated market, particularly for institutional investors. What’s really interesting is XRP’s position there. According to the JVCEA Green List – a framework recognized by Japan’s financial regulator – XRP is currently supported by 20 of the major exchanges. That makes it the third most popular crypto asset in Japan’s regulated market, following only Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The market for digital versions of real-world assets in Japan is currently worth $2.8 billion on platforms used by institutions, and is expected to grow to between $6 and $7 billion by the end of the year.

XRP Tokyo is where that infrastructure conversation happens at scale.

Who’s In the Room

Ripple is the main sponsor of the event and will be represented by key leaders such as Christina Chan, Tatsuya Kohrogi, and Markus Infanger. J. Ayo Akinyele, Engineering Head at RippleX, will also be giving a presentation.

Ripple isn’t the only major player involved. The event will also feature leaders from companies like SBI Ripple Asia (with Vice President Takuya Sugiyama), a16z Crypto (SungMo Park), Rakuten Wallet (Tatsuya Yamada), as well as representatives from Evernorth, Securitize Japan, and the University of Tokyo.

This is a convergence of builders, capital, and policy.

What XRP Holders Are Watching

Recent on-chain data suggests growing interest in XRP. According to CryptoQuant, large XRP holders have been accumulating the cryptocurrency at the highest rate in 10 months, averaging over 11 million XRP per day. Currently, XRP is trading at $1.35, a nearly 4% increase from yesterday.

The meeting will focus on how institutions are starting to use XRP, turning real-world assets into tokens on the XRPL blockchain, and the growth of decentralized finance (DeFi). Japan’s clear rules for these technologies give XRP an edge over many other networks.

The US CLARITY Act is likely to be discussed near the end of April. Whatever is announced in Tokyo tomorrow will influence how the market assesses real-world adoption of XRP by institutions.

The event takes place on the 5th and 6th floors of Happo-en and includes the XRP Tokyo Stage, an exhibition area, and a VIP after-party. It’s one component of the larger TEAMZ Web3/AI Summit, which runs from April 6th to 8th.
