Binance Exec’s Lawsuit Crushed: Nigerian Court Plays Hardball

In a plot twist no one saw coming (except maybe everyone), the Nigerian High Court threw out former Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan’s lawsuit faster than you can say “crypto.”

Why the Court Said “Nope” 🚫

So, Tigran Gambaryan-former federal agent, Binance bigwig-thought he could sue Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) for unlawful detention. Spoiler alert: he couldn’t. Justice Umar Mohammed, in a November 27 ruling, basically said, “Nice try, but no.” The court ruled that Nigeria’s security agencies were just doing their job (cue shrug emoji 🤷‍♂️). According to a local report, the judge also pointed out that Gambaryan didn’t have immunity. Shocker.

The Detention Drama 🎭

Gambaryan’s Nigerian adventure began in early 2024 when he flew in to chat about Binance’s alleged financial shenanigans. Alongside fellow Binancian Nadeem Anjarwalla, they were held at a “guest house” (read: not a holiday resort). But while Anjarwalla pulled a Houdini and escaped, Gambaryan got upgraded to the Kuje Correctional Centre. Lucky him. His long stay and worsening health sparked global outrage, eventually forcing U.S. officials to step in. Gambaryan was finally released in October 2024-just in time for Halloween.

Oh, and let’s not forget his spicy claim that Binance’s refusal to pay a $150 million bribe landed him in hot water. The Nigerian government denied this faster than you can say “fake news.”
