A recent data breach at a Tennessee healthcare company has exposed the private information of over 67,000 people.

Tri-Cities Gastroenterology announced that around December 11, 2025, someone illegally accessed parts of their computer network.

As a result of the forensic investigation concluded on April 22nd, 2026, I can confirm that the compromised files contained sensitive protected health information. Specifically, the data included individuals’ full names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, genders, and medical record numbers. This represents a significant data breach involving personally identifiable information.

As a researcher following this case, I’ve learned that Tri-Cities Gastroenterology has found no evidence of fraud or identity theft resulting from their recent security breach. However, they proactively notified those potentially affected and provided guidance on how to best protect their personal information moving forward.

Tri-Cities Gastroenterology began notifying patients on April 29, 2026, that their personal information may have been involved in a data security incident. This notification was made as a precaution after the practice learned an unauthorized person may have accessed and taken files containing patient data.

The company provided free credit monitoring to people whose Social Security numbers were in the files affected by the data breach.
